Permits

Please read through the Village Code to see if you need a permit for what you are doing.  Some examples of things that require a permit are below.   This is not a complete list of all activities requiring a permit, just a handful of examples:

  • Re-roofing a structure
  • Re-siding a structure
  • Buying/erecting a shed larger than 8′ x 10′
  • Establishment of any new use of property.
  • To excavate for or build any foundation.
  • To erect, construct, reconstruct, enlarge, alter or move any building or structure.
  • To erect, construct, reconstruct, enlarge, alter or move any sign or fence which cannot be viewed through, and any concrete, stone or masonry wall.
  • To change the use of any building, structure or land from one zoning district classification to another.
  • In the case of a non-conforming use, to change from one use to another.
  • To dig or dry any well.
  • To install, add to or repair any sewage disposal system.

To apply for a permit, please click the link below and fill out the Village Approval of Building Permit Application.  Once complete, return it to the Village Office for review/signature.   Please include any materials or fees that are required.  Once approved, we will send it back to you and you can then proceed to Kane County to apply for the permit.
